Followed by a pack of wolves, a polar bear couple is running on ice floes until they are out of breath. They mange to escape their followers but the mother bear loses the cub she was about to give birth to.
She is disconsolate, so the father breaks into a house and takes a baby. He gives this little human to the mother bear who at first ignores it, then holds it against her fur to give it warmth. The baby has found a new mother...
During many years the baby grows up as a bear cup, until one day his biological father finds him and takes him back to the humans. However the baby is unhappy and he begins to wish for the impossible: to become a bear.
