Performance GLITCH, 2024 - Christian Falsnaes - Art Basel X Le Bicolore On Tour
The performance takes place at the Grand Palais, throughout the duration of the fair, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday October 17th.
Christian Falsnaes presents a new performance GLITCH,2024 created for Art Basel Paris in collaboration with Pierre-Alexandre Mateos and Charles Teyssou (conversations program curators at Art Basel Paris)
Danish artist Christian Falsnaes is a clown in the noblest sense of the word. As a performer, he enjoys unravelling the various social rituals, from the vanity theatre of an opening to the crowd logic of a demonstration, to reveal their logic while subverting them. As part of Art Basel Paris 2024, he has created a collective performance in which 4 people, who have nothing to suggest that they are not regulars at art fairs, behave normally until their bodies malfunction. In the manner of Non-Playable Characters (the extras in video games), our SIMS from the art world, so far used to the exercise, take on grotesque guises, underlining in negative the well-oiled choreography of the bodies at the fair.
