Art Talk – The Heritage of the Future: The Poetry of Silver in Its Purest Form
Entre libre sur inscription
What does silver mean today?
Is it a relic of the past – something confined to display cabinets and special occasions? Or is it still a material capable of creating value in our everyday lives, inviting us to slow down, reconnect with craftsmanship, and engage with history?
Building on the exhibition Georg Jensen in Paris, this talk extends the narrative from Georg Jensen’s organic forms and artisanal approach to contemporary practices and the future role of silver.
Jewellery artist Janne Krogh Hansen works in a field where material is not merely ornament, but inquiry. Trained as both goldsmith and designer at the Institute of Precious Metals in Copenhagen, she has developed a practice over the past two decades centered on body, memory, and landscape. Her work has been exhibited in Paris, Tokyo, Seoul, and Munich.
Together with Amalie Hansen, specialist in modern decorative arts and silver at Bruun Rasmussen, the conversation expands to include historical, cultural, and market perspectives: how is silver valued today? What does heritage mean in a time that often prioritizes convenience and low maintenance? And why do some still choose to live with materials that require care?
A conversation exploring the connections between heritage, future, and the sensory, poetic qualities of silver.
