Renowned Danish painter and graphic artist Jesper Christiansen (b. 1955) graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen (1988), where he later became a professor (2003-2008). He is represented in many Scandinavian galleries and museums, and has undertaken public art commissions - including works for the Amalienborg Palace home of the Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark, the Copenhagen Courthouse and Frederikskirken (the Danish Church in Paris). He is the recipient of a number of awards – including the Eckersberg Medal (1999), a Danish Arts Foundation lifelong grant (2009), a New Carlsberg Foundation’s Artist Grant (2013), the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Dannebrog (2016) and the Thorvaldsen Medal (2016).
Married to acclaimed Danish crime writer Anne Grue, Jesper Christiansen lives in Copenhagen and Odsherred.
