Georg Jensen in Paris | A Refuge for an Eminent Danish Silversmith

April 1 – May 31 2026

La Maison du Danemark presents an exceptional exhibition dedicated to Danish silversmith Georg Jensen, a major figure in Nordic design. Paris played a decisive role in the artist's career: after several stays in France, he chose to settle there in 1924.

Here, he ran a small workshop with a handful of craftsmen, reconnecting with the very essence of his craft, far from the large factory in Copenhagen, which already had several hundred employees.

This return to the fundamentals of craftsmanship proved to be particularly fruitful. At the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, Jensen was hugely successful and received a Grand Prix.

The works created during this Parisian period (1924–1926) are now considered among the most accomplished of his oeuvre.

Designed in close collaboration with the Georg Jensen Society, bringing together members of the artist's family, the exhibition reveals an intimate and decisive chapter in his career, in which Paris became a true creative refuge.
