Spatial Visions
Karen Bennicke
Karen Bennicke's artistic practice involves a constant interplay between experimentation and exploration. Her work borrows from decorative crafts, sculpture and architecture, producing mixed forms and delicate hybrids of stoneware and enamel.
Over the years, Bennicke has consistently demonstrated her determination to create a unique form each time. She often works in series, and the entire process, from drawing to cardboard models to moulding clay, shows that her journey is not finished. She returns to shapes and ideas to rework them and all her work, whatever its scale, reflects her intensely curious nature. For Karen Bennicke, spatial vision and creating something new are more important than function, and she does not shy away from producing works that slightly jar traditional conceptions of balance and harmony.
