Margot portraits Aurelia 3

Margot Bernard is interested in the challenges of joint creation, seeing the work as a meeting point rather than an end in itself.

Her work moves between editorial production and sound creation, in projects where the address and relationship with the audience are considered from the outset. The enlarged book and the oral archive blend and complement each other. Surveying, collecting, audio production and publishing are some of the tools she is particularly fond of, as much as gathering a group around a table.

She graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2024, and is currently in residence at Ô Léonie (Paris) and Mains d'Oeuvres Hors les Murs (St Ouen).

A Picolo was the name of an emblematic café-concert and record shop in the Saint-Ouen flea market, itself derived from picolo or piccolo, a small sweet Italian wine, but also from one of the parts of the transverse flute. Following in his footsteps, Margot Bernard and Toco Vervisch explore the relief, recording background noises, exchanges and transactions, and capturing the everyday reality of sellers, buyers and residents alike. Both a material and a soundscape, their track lulls the visitor through the exhibition, transporting us to a place steeped in individual and collective history, where everyday, banal poetry takes precedence over strictly commercial reality.
